Political Advertising Policy
This Political Advertising Policy explains when political ads are allowed on Vibble, the rules that apply to advertisers, disclosure and transparency requirements, and the safeguards we use to protect elections, civic processes, and users from manipulation and abuse.
1. Scope & Definition of Political Advertising
This policy applies to all paid promotional content on Vibble that relates to politics or civic life. “Political Advertising” includes, but is not limited to:
- Paid promotions referencing elections, candidates, political parties, or public officials
- Ads advocating for or against legislation, referenda, or public policy changes
- Paid campaigns intended to influence civic participation or voting behavior
- Issue-based ads that are clearly tied to political outcomes or public policy debates
Non-political commercial advertising (e.g., consumer products, entertainment) is governed by the general Ads & Sponsorship Policy and Advertiser Content Restrictions.
2. Regional Availability & Prohibitions
Due to legal, regulatory, and safety considerations, Vibble may:
- Prohibit all political ads in certain countries or regions
- Restrict political ads to verified entities only (e.g., official campaigns, registered organizations)
- Apply stricter rules during election periods or crisis situations
Where political advertising is prohibited, advertisers may not attempt to bypass restrictions through issue-based campaigns, influencer arrangements, or proxy accounts.
3. Political Advertiser Eligibility
To run political ads on Vibble (where allowed), advertisers must:
- Complete enhanced verification as a political advertiser
- Provide valid legal identity and organization documentation
- Disclose the country of registration and jurisdiction of operation
- Confirm compliance with all applicable election and campaign laws
- Use only authorized, verified accounts to run political campaigns
Vibble may reject or revoke political advertiser status at any time, at its sole discretion, especially where authenticity or legal compliance is in doubt.
4. Disclosure & “Paid for by” Requirements
All political ads must include clear disclosure of the sponsoring entity. At minimum, each ad must:
- Display a “Paid for by [Organization Name]” or equivalent sponsor line
- Link to an information page describing the sponsor and their purpose (where required)
- Be traceable to a verified advertiser identity within Vibble’s systems
Vibble may supplement disclosures with its own labels, such as: “Political Ad – Sponsored Content” or other visual indicators in the user interface.
5. Prohibited Political Advertising Content
Political ads must comply with all global Vibble policies. The following content is strictly prohibited:
- False or misleading information about voting procedures, dates, or eligibility
- Disinformation that could materially deter civic participation
- Incitement of violence, hate speech, or harassment against individuals or groups
- Content that calls for the overthrow of democratic or lawful processes
- Deepfake or synthetic media presented as real without clear labeling
- Suppression tactics such as threats, intimidation, or voter harassment
- Covert influence operations funded or directed by undisclosed state entities
6. Targeting & Audience Restrictions
Political ads are subject to strict targeting rules. Depending on local law and Vibble policy, we may:
- Restrict targeting to broad geographic regions (e.g., country or region-level only)
- Prohibit invasive micro-targeting based on sensitive attributes (e.g., religion, ethnicity)
- Limit or ban targeting of minors with any political advocacy
- Disallow inferred sensitive traits as targeting criteria
Advertisers must not upload or use illegally obtained data, voter rolls, or third-party datasets for targeting on Vibble.
7. Transparency & Political Ad Archive
Vibble may maintain a publicly accessible archive of political ads, including:
- Creative copy and media used in the ad
- Identity of the advertiser or sponsoring entity
- Date range when the ad was active
- High-level audience targeting parameters (where required)
- Estimated spend ranges or impression ranges (if applicable)
This transparency archive exists to support independent oversight, research, and civic accountability.
8. State Actors & Government-Linked Campaigns
Political campaigns funded, directed, or materially influenced by foreign governments or state-controlled entities may be restricted or prohibited. Vibble reserves the right to:
- Prohibit political ads from foreign state actors in certain jurisdictions
- Apply additional labels to identify state-affiliated sponsors
- Require enhanced disclosure, documentation, and review
9. Influencers, Creators & Paid Endorsements
Political endorsements by creators, journalists, or influencers that are paid or materially incentivized must be:
- Clearly disclosed (e.g., #ad, #sponsored, or local legal equivalents)
- Compliant with election, advertising, and consumer protection laws
- Run only where political advertising is permitted by Vibble policy
Hidden or undisclosed political sponsorship arrangements are prohibited and may result in account penalties for both the sponsor and the creator.
10. Enforcement & Penalties
Violations of this policy may result in one or more of the following actions:
- Rejection or removal of the political ad
- Suspension of the advertiser’s political advertising privileges
- Freezing or cancellation of active campaigns
- Account-level sanctions, up to and including permanent suspension
- Reporting to regulators or authorities where required by law
11. Appeals & Dispute Resolution
Political advertisers may appeal decisions related to rejected ads or suspended accounts through established Vibble appeal channels. Appeals should include:
- Ad IDs and campaign references
- Explanation of why the advertiser believes the decision was incorrect
- Supporting documentation (e.g., legal approvals, regulatory certifications)
Appeals are reviewed by specialized Policy, Legal, and Integrity teams, particularly during election periods.
12. Compliance with Local Laws
Political advertisers are responsible for complying with all applicable laws in each jurisdiction where their ads are shown, including:
- Election and campaign finance regulations
- Advertising and consumer protection standards
- Transparency, disclosure, and record-keeping obligations
Vibble’s acceptance of an ad does not constitute legal approval or certification of compliance.
13. Changes to This Policy
Vibble may update this Political Advertising Policy in response to legal changes, regulatory guidance, or platform safety needs. Material updates will be reflected in this document with a revised effective date and may be communicated to active political advertisers directly.
