ReelCiety Sensitive Media Policy
This Sensitive Media Policy defines how ReelCiety identifies, restricts, labels, distributes, and enforces rules around sensitive visual content. The policy exists to protect users, advertisers, creators, and Nexa-Group from psychological harm, exploitation, legal exposure, and misuse of visual media.
1. Purpose & Scope
Sensitive visual media includes images or videos that may be disturbing, shocking, emotionally distressing, or unsuitable for certain audiences. This policy applies to all visual formats, including photos, videos, reels, stories, live previews, thumbnails, profile media, and embedded visuals within captions or comments.
2. Definition of Sensitive Media
Sensitive media may include, but is not limited to:
- Non-graphic depictions of injury, medical procedures, or accidents
- Depictions of violence without explicit gore
- Scenes of death or dying without graphic detail
- Images of self-harm recovery or prevention contexts
- Depictions of abuse in documentary, educational, or journalistic contexts
- Content that may cause emotional distress when viewed unexpectedly
3. Absolutely Prohibited Content
The following sensitive content is strictly prohibited and will be removed immediately:
- Graphic violence, gore, or exposed organs
- Execution imagery or real-time violent deaths
- Sexual violence imagery
- Graphic self-harm or suicide attempts
- Extreme cruelty to animals
- CSAM or sexual exploitation of minors (zero tolerance)
4. Age-Based Restrictions
Sensitive media may be restricted by age using platform safeguards:
- Age gates for mature audiences
- Blocked access for minors
- Parental control enforcement
- Regional legal compliance filters
5. Warning Screens & Interstitials
ReelCiety may apply warning screens before sensitive media is displayed. These warnings:
- Inform users of potentially disturbing content
- Require affirmative action to proceed
- May include crisis resources where appropriate
- Reduce accidental exposure
6. Contextual Allowances
Certain sensitive content may be permitted when presented responsibly in:
- News reporting and journalism
- Documentary or educational material
- Public health or safety awareness
- Human rights documentation
Even when allowed, such content may still face distribution limits or monetization restrictions.
7. Distribution & Algorithmic Treatment
Sensitive media is subject to modified distribution rules:
- Reduced recommendation eligibility
- Exclusion from Explore or trending surfaces
- Deprioritization in feeds
- Mandatory labeling or blurring
8. Monetization Restrictions
Sensitive media is generally ineligible for monetization. Advertisers will not be placed alongside sensitive visual content unless explicitly approved under strict brand-safety controls.
9. Misuse & Shock Content
Content posted primarily to shock, traumatize, or exploit viewer reactions is prohibited, regardless of graphic intensity.
10. User Controls
Users may manage exposure to sensitive media through:
- Content sensitivity preferences
- Muted keywords or topics
- Blocked accounts
- Parental and guardian controls
11. Reporting & Review
Users can report sensitive media that violates this policy. All reports are reviewed using a combination of automated detection and trained human moderation.
12. Enforcement Actions
Violations may result in:
- Content removal or blurring
- Visibility limitation
- Account warnings or strikes
- Temporary or permanent account suspension
13. Appeals
Users may appeal enforcement decisions through the ReelCiety Appeals System. Appeals are reviewed manually where required.
14. Legal & Regulatory Compliance
This policy supports compliance with global online safety laws, child protection regulations, advertising standards, and platform liability frameworks.
15. Policy Updates
ReelCiety may revise this policy to reflect evolving risks, laws, or safety research. Updates take effect upon publication.
