Reply-Hijacking & Reply Abuse Rules

These rules define how Vibble treats replies that are used for harassment, spam, link-drops, brigading, or hijacking of another user’s audience or conversation.

1. Purpose

Replies are meant to facilitate discussion, feedback, and conversation. On a microblogging platform, replies can also be weaponized to harass users, bury legitimate conversation, or hijack visibility. This policy explains what behavior is prohibited and how enforcement works.

2. What Counts as Reply-Hijacking?

Reply-hijacking involves using the reply function primarily to:

  • Self-promote unrelated content under high-visibility posts
  • Attach spam, scams, or malicious links to popular threads
  • Derail conversation with irrelevant or inflammatory replies
  • Target individuals through dog-piling or reply brigades
  • Harass users by repeatedly replying aggressively across multiple posts

3. Abusive Reply Patterns

Vibble considers the following behaviors abusive:

  • Coordinated harassment where many accounts reply hostilely to one user
  • Using replies to send threats, slurs, or hateful content
  • Posting doxxing content or personal data in replies
  • Reply chains designed to humiliate or incite others to attack

4. Spam & Commercial Abuse in Replies

Reply sections must not be used as free ad inventory or spam channels. Prohibited behaviors include:

  • Posting repeated promotional links on unrelated posts
  • Dropping referral codes, multi-level marketing pitches, or crypto spam in replies
  • Automated mass replies to trending posts with identical content

5. Enforcement Measures

Vibble may apply the following measures against reply abuse:

  • Demotion or hiding of abusive replies (“Show more replies” bucket)
  • Temporary reply restrictions for offending accounts
  • Permanent removal of reply privileges in extreme cases
  • Full account suspension or ban for severe harassment or spam

6. Creator & User Controls

To help users protect their conversations, Vibble offers:

  • Reply controls (e.g., followers only, mentioned users only, or no replies)
  • Keyword filters to auto-hide replies containing certain words
  • Block, mute, and restrict tools for problematic accounts
  • Report tools specifically tagging “Reply abuse” or “Reply hijacking”

7. Detection & Integrity Systems

Vibble uses a combination of:

  • Machine-learning models to identify spam and harassment patterns
  • Rate limiting for high-volume repliers in short periods
  • Network analysis to detect brigades and coordinated attacks

8. Reporting & Appeals

Users can report reply abuse directly from the offending reply. Reports are reviewed by moderation teams and may result in warnings, restrictions, or bans.

If you believe your reply was taken down incorrectly or your reply privileges were restricted in error, you may file an appeal via:

Appeals: appeals@vibble.com
