Election Integrity & Political Content Policy

This Policy explains how Vexor handles political content, election-related information, and safeguards against manipulation, voter suppression, disinformation, and coordinated influence operations. Our objective is to protect democratic processes while supporting legitimate political expression and civic engagement.

1. Political Content Definition

For the purposes of this Policy, “Political Content” refers to any content that directly or indirectly relates to:

  • Elections, referendums, or public voting processes
  • Political parties, candidates, or elected officials
  • Public policy, legislation, or regulatory proposals
  • Civic processes such as voter registration and turnout campaigns
  • Government institutions and governance structures
  • Official or unofficial campaign messaging, slogans, or endorsements

This includes both organic content created by users (e.g., commentary, debate, advocacy) and paid or sponsored political promotions, where permitted.

2. Prohibited Political Behaviors

To safeguard election integrity and prevent manipulation, Vexor prohibits specific political behaviors and tactics, including:

  • Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior: Operating networks of fake accounts, bots, or coordinated personas to artificially amplify political messages, harass opponents, or create the illusion of consensus (astroturfing).
  • Undisclosed Paid Political Influence: Political campaigns, lobbying organizations, or interest groups running paid political promotions without legally required disclosures or platform-compliant labels.
  • Deceptive Voting Information: Content that intentionally misleads users about voting dates, locations, eligibility criteria, identification requirements, or absentee/mail-in procedures.
  • Deepfakes & Synthetic Political Manipulation: AI-generated or heavily manipulated media that falsely depicts candidates, public officials, or political figures engaging in actions or making statements they did not make, when such content is not clearly labeled as synthetic or satirical and may mislead voters.
  • Intimidation & Suppression: Political content that threatens individuals or groups to prevent them from voting or participating in civic life.

3. Misinformation on Elections

Vexor takes a firm stance against election-related misinformation that could undermine democratic participation or public trust in electoral processes. Depending on severity and jurisdictional requirements, Vexor may remove, label, or reduce the distribution of political content that:

  • Provides false or misleading information about voting dates, locations, registration deadlines, polling hours, or voting methods.
  • Discourages voting through deception, intimidation, or false claims about legal consequences or eligibility.
  • Asserts that elections are “rigged” or “invalid” without credible evidence, where such claims could significantly undermine civic participation (subject to regional legal standards and freedom-of-expression protections).
  • Falsely claims early victory, large-scale fraud, or systemic manipulation while the electoral process or official counting is ongoing, in contexts where such claims may trigger unrest or civil harm.

In some cases, Vexor may add contextual labels, fact-check references, or links to official election information rather than removing content outright, consistent with applicable law and platform safety standards.

4. Political Advertising & Monetization

Political advertising and monetization are particularly sensitive and may be restricted or prohibited in certain countries due to regulatory frameworks or internal risk assessments. Key principles include:

  • Regional Restrictions: In some jurisdictions, Vexor may prohibit all paid political advertising; in others, it may allow limited campaigns subject to strict legal compliance and prior approval.
  • Mandatory Disclosures: Political advertisers must clearly identify themselves, provide contact information, and comply with local and national disclosure requirements, including “Paid for by…” or equivalent labels.
  • Advertiser Verification: Vexor may require identity verification, proof of local eligibility, and additional documentation before political campaigns can run paid ads or sponsor content.
  • Monetization Limits: Political or election-related content may be ineligible for certain monetization programs where such restrictions are necessary for legal compliance or risk mitigation.

Detailed rules for political monetization and sponsored content are further outlined in the Sponsorship & Advertising Policy and related advertiser documentation.

5. Transparency & Labeling

To increase transparency around political discourse, Vexor may:

  • Label political content that references elections, political parties, or public officials—especially when posted by official or institutional accounts.
  • Clearly distinguish between organic political content and paid or sponsored promotions with visible labels and disclosures.
  • Identify “official sources,” such as verified government election bodies or election commissions, when linking to authoritative information.
  • Surface informational modules pointing to non-partisan civic resources during key election periods.

6. Government & NGO Collaboration

Vexor may collaborate with:

  • National and local election commissions
  • Non-partisan civil society organizations
  • Accredited fact-checking partners
  • Academic and research institutions

These partnerships help Vexor:

  • Detect emerging election-related misinformation trends
  • Improve labeling, context, and educational prompts
  • Refine enforcement policies for political and civic content
  • Respond more rapidly to high-risk narratives that may impact public safety

7. User Rights, Appeals & Due Process

Users whose political content is limited, labeled, or removed may have the right to:

  • Receive a notification explaining the enforcement action
  • Request clarification on applicable policies
  • Submit an appeal via the Vexor Appeals System

Appeals related to political content are reviewed by specialized policy and moderation staff, and decisions may be adjusted where errors are identified or where additional context supports reinstatement.

8. Enforcement & Consequences

Violations of this Election Integrity & Political Content Policy may result in:

  • Content labeling or context panels
  • Reduced distribution or downranking of content
  • Removal of violating posts or ads
  • Suspension of advertising or monetization privileges
  • Temporary or permanent account suspension in severe or repeated cases

In serious cases involving election interference, voter suppression, or coordinated inauthentic behavior, Vexor may also cooperate with relevant authorities in accordance with applicable law and our Law Enforcement Request Guide.
