Assistive Technology Support Guidelines

These guidelines describe how Friendium supports assistive technologies, outlines compatibility expectations, defines user and developer responsibilities, and establishes platform limitations related to accessibility tooling.

1. Purpose & Accessibility Commitment

Friendium is committed to enabling broad participation for users with disabilities by supporting commonly used assistive technologies where reasonably practicable. These guidelines clarify the scope of that support, the technical boundaries of compatibility, and the shared responsibilities between Friendium, users, and third-party providers.

4. Limitations & Variability

Due to the diversity of assistive technologies and rapid platform evolution, Friendium does not warrant that all features will function seamlessly with all tools at all times.

Known limitations may include:

  • Partial support for experimental or beta features
  • Reduced functionality in third-party embeds
  • Latency or inaccuracies in automated accessibility features

5. Third-Party Content & Integrations

Content hosted, embedded, or linked from third-party services may not meet Friendium’s accessibility standards.

Friendium is not responsible for the accessibility compliance of:

  • External websites or applications
  • Third-party plugins or integrations
  • User-generated embeds or shared links

6. User Responsibilities

Users are responsible for:

  • Maintaining up-to-date assistive technology software
  • Configuring device-level accessibility settings
  • Providing accurate alt-text and captions where required
  • Reporting accessibility barriers through official channels

7. Creator & Business Responsibilities

Creators, page owners, advertisers, and businesses must ensure that their content does not intentionally interfere with assistive technologies.

Prohibited conduct includes:

  • Deliberate obstruction of screen readers
  • Use of inaccessible custom interfaces without alternatives
  • Misuse of accessibility metadata for deceptive purposes

8. Testing & Continuous Improvement

Friendium conducts periodic internal testing using representative assistive technologies and accessibility evaluation tools.

Testing does not guarantee defect-free accessibility and is not a substitute for individualized accommodations.

9. Accessibility Feedback & Reporting

Users are encouraged to report accessibility issues, including:

  • Incompatibility with assistive tools
  • Navigation barriers
  • Missing accessibility metadata

Reports help inform prioritization but do not guarantee immediate fixes.

10. Legal & Regulatory Context

Friendium aligns its accessibility efforts with recognized standards such as WCAG 2.1 where feasible, but does not represent that the platform meets all legal accessibility obligations in every jurisdiction.
