Safety Levels for Message Requests

This policy explains how Vibble categorizes and filters message requests from non-followers or unknown accounts, and how users can configure the level of protection they want.

1. What Are Message Requests?

Message Requests are DMs sent by accounts that you do not follow and have not interacted with closely. To prevent unwanted contact, these messages are separated from your main inbox until you approve or ignore them.

2. Safety Levels

Vibble may offer multiple safety presets for Message Requests:

  • Open: Anyone can send requests, with basic spam filtering.
  • Standard (Default): Requests allowed, but filtered and grouped by risk level.
  • Strict: Only people you follow or accounts you approve can send you messages.
  • Closed: All message requests are blocked; only existing conversations remain.

3. Risk-Based Sorting

Within Message Requests, Vibble may sort messages into categories such as:

  • Primary Requests: Likely legitimate messages (friends-of-friends, verified accounts).
  • Filtered: Possible spam, mass outreach, or low-quality messages.
  • High-Risk: Messages flagged for likely abuse, harassment, or explicit content.

High-risk requests may be heavily obscured or require an explicit tap to reveal limited content.

4. Preview & Media Controls

To reduce exposure to harmful content, Vibble may:

  • Hide media thumbnails from unknown senders until tapped
  • Display only partial message previews for suspicious senders
  • Offer quick actions to “Block & Report” directly from the request

5. User Configuration & Overrides

Users can customize their Message Requests experience by:

  • Changing the global safety level (Open, Standard, Strict, Closed)
  • Whitelisting certain accounts or domains (for business users)
  • Enabling or disabling media previews from unknown senders

6. Special Protection for Minors

For younger users, Vibble may automatically:

  • Default to “Strict” or “Closed” message request settings
  • Block requests from accounts with adult-focused content or known risk markers
  • Increase monitoring for grooming patterns or suspicious behavior

7. Reporting & Enforcement

Any message request can be reported as:

  • Harassment or hate
  • Spam or phishing
  • Sexual content or exploitation
  • Threats or promotion of violence

Confirmed violations may result in limitations on the sender’s ability to send requests, DM bans, or account suspension.
