Impersonation & Account Authenticity Rules

This policy explains how Vibble defines impersonation, protects identity, and enforces authenticity requirements for standard and verified accounts.

1. Impersonation Defined

Impersonation occurs when an account presents itself as another real person, brand, or institution in a misleading way. This includes using similar names, photos, bios, or branding to confuse users.

2. Prohibited Impersonation Behaviors

  • Using another person’s real name, likeness, or branding as your own.
  • Pretending to be government agencies, newsrooms, or corporations without authorization.
  • Creating “support” or “help” accounts that are not officially affiliated with Vibble.
  • Using usernames or handles that are nearly identical to official or verified accounts.

3. Parody, Satire & Fan Accounts

Vibble allows parody, satire, and fan accounts as long as they are clearly labeled and non-deceptive:

  • Include terms like “parody”, “fan”, or “unofficial” in the profile name or bio.
  • Avoid using only the real person’s or brand’s name without context.
  • Do not mislead users into believing the account is official.

4. Verification & Authenticity

Verified badges (individual, organization, government) are governed by the Identity, Verification & Account Authenticity policy set. Misuse of verification (selling, transferring, or renting verified accounts) is prohibited.

5. Enforcement

Vibble may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Require profile changes, disclaimers, or rebranding.
  • Remove misleading usernames or display names.
  • Suspend accounts engaged in intentional deception or fraud.
  • Revoke verification badges for verified accounts that violate these rules.

6. Reporting Impersonation

Users can report impersonation from profiles or posts. Rights holders, brands, and public figures may also contact us directly:

Impersonation Reports: trust@vibble.org

7. Appeals

If you believe your account was wrongly flagged as impersonation, you may appeal with proof of identity or authorization.

8. Policy Updates

As verification systems and impersonation tactics evolve, this policy will be refined and expanded to maintain trust in identity signals on Vibble.
