Anti-Harassment Messaging Filters

This policy describes Vibble’s automated filters and user controls that reduce exposure to abusive, harassing, or unwanted messages in Direct Messages and interactions.

1. Purpose

Vibble’s Anti-Harassment Messaging Filters are designed to reduce exposure to harmful content in DMs while respecting user privacy and freedom of expression. These filters provide optional and configurable protections, especially valuable for creators, journalists, public figures, and vulnerable users.

2. Types of Filters

Vibble may provide several filter types, including:

  • Keyword Filters: User-defined lists of words/phrases that auto-hide messages containing them.
  • Harassment & Hate Filters: System-level filters for slurs, threats, or highly abusive content.
  • Suspicious Account Filters: Filters for new, unverified, or flagged accounts.
  • Attachment Filters: Restrictions or blurring for media from unknown senders.

3. User-Controlled Settings

Users can choose their protection level via settings, such as:

  • “Standard” protection (recommended default)
  • “Strict” mode (hides more borderline content)
  • “Custom” mode (user-defined keyword and sender rules)

Filtered messages may be moved to a separate folder or hidden unless the user explicitly opens them.

4. How Automated Detection Works

Vibble uses machine-learning classifiers and rule-based systems to detect likely harassment, including:

  • Threats of violence or serious harm
  • Severe, targeted insults or slurs
  • Coordinated mass harassment signals
  • Sexually explicit harassment, especially toward minors

These systems are continuously tuned to reduce false positives and respect legitimate debate and criticism.

5. Limitations & User Review

No automated system is perfect. Some abusive messages may still pass through filters, and some non-abusive messages may be filtered. Users can:

  • Review filtered messages if they choose
  • Mark messages as “Not abusive” to help refine filters
  • Block or report abusive senders directly

6. Creator & High-Profile Account Protections

For high-risk accounts (creators, journalists, public officials), Vibble may:

  • Enable stricter filters by default
  • Offer additional tools to manage high message volume
  • Prioritize reports related to coordinated harassment

7. Privacy & Data Use

Anti-harassment filters are strictly used for safety and abuse prevention purposes. Filter signals are not used to build advertising profiles and are handled in compliance with privacy laws and Vibble’s Privacy Policy.

8. Reporting & Escalation

Users can escalate abusive DM content by:

  • Using in-message “Report” tools
  • Emailing documentation in severe cases (e.g., threats)
  • Requesting additional support if they are subject to sustained harassment campaigns
