Impersonation & Account Authenticity Policy

1. Purpose & Scope

ReelCiety is a visual-first social platform built on trust, authenticity, and responsible expression. Impersonation undermines user safety, enables fraud, and damages public discourse. This policy applies to all user accounts, content, usernames, bios, profile images, and metadata.

2. Definition of Impersonation

Impersonation occurs when an account falsely represents itself as another individual, brand, organization, or entity in a manner that is misleading or deceptive.

• Using another person’s name, image, or likeness to mislead.
• Pretending to be a public figure, creator, or celebrity.
• Imitating brands, companies, or official institutions.
• Creating accounts that imply affiliation where none exists.

3. Account Authenticity Requirements

All accounts on ReelCiety must:

• Accurately represent the individual or entity operating the account.
• Use usernames and profile elements that do not intentionally confuse others.
• Disclose parody, fan, or commentary intent where applicable.
• Avoid deceptive visual or textual representations.

4. Prohibited Impersonation Practices

• Accounts claiming to be another real person without authorization.
• Using official logos, seals, or branding to mislead.
• Impersonating emergency services, government bodies, or law enforcement.
• Imitating ReelCiety staff, Nexa-Group representatives, or moderators.
• Creating look-alike accounts to scam, deceive, or exploit users.

5. Parody, Fan & Commentary Accounts

ReelCiety allows parody, fan, and commentary accounts provided they:

• Clearly disclose their nature in the username or bio.
• Do not attempt to mislead users into believing they are the original subject.
• Do not engage in harassment, fraud, or brand misuse.

6. Brand & Organization Representation

Accounts representing brands, businesses, or organizations must:

• Be operated by authorized representatives.
• Use branding consistent with legitimate ownership.
• Avoid implying endorsements or partnerships without consent.

7. Reporting Impersonation

Users may report suspected impersonation through:

• In-app reporting tools.
• The ReelCiety Reporting Center.
• Direct contact with Safety & Enforcement teams.

8. Review & Investigation Process

Reported impersonation cases are reviewed by trained moderation specialists. Investigations may include:

• Username and profile similarity analysis.
• Content and behavioral review.
• Requests for verification or clarification.

9. Enforcement Actions

Confirmed impersonation may result in:

• Content removal or profile modification.
• Account warnings or restrictions.
• Temporary suspension.
• Permanent account termination for severe or repeat violations.

10. Appeals

Users may appeal enforcement actions if they believe a mistake was made. Appeals are reviewed manually and decisions are final.

11. Fraud & Safety Escalations

Impersonation involving scams, financial fraud, or threats may be escalated to security teams or law enforcement where legally required.

12. Policy Updates

ReelCiety may update this policy to address emerging threats, new impersonation techniques, or regulatory requirements.
