ReelCiety Text-to-Speech & Assistive Technology Guidelines
This document defines ReelCiety’s standards, safeguards, and technical requirements for text-to-speech (TTS), speech-to-text (STT), and assistive technology compatibility. These guidelines ensure equitable access for users with disabilities and align with Nexa-Group’s accessibility, inclusion, and regulatory obligations.
1. Purpose & Accessibility Commitment
ReelCiety is committed to ensuring that users who rely on assistive technologies can access, understand, and participate in the platform without barriers. Text-to-speech and related technologies play a critical role in enabling access for users who are blind, have low vision, cognitive disabilities, motor impairments, or reading difficulties.
2. Supported Text-to-Speech Capabilities
ReelCiety supports integration with system-level and third-party TTS solutions, including but not limited to:
- Operating system native TTS engines (iOS, Android, Windows, macOS)
- Screen readers with built-in speech output
- Third-party accessibility applications and plugins
- Custom voice and language settings provided by the user’s device
3. Content Eligible for Text-to-Speech
The following content types are designed to be compatible with TTS technologies:
- Post captions, comments, and replies
- User profile information and bios
- Navigation menus, buttons, and interface labels
- System messages, notifications, and warnings
- Policy notices and consent dialogs
4. Pronunciation, Clarity & Semantic Structure
To ensure clarity when read aloud:
- Content is structured using semantic HTML and ARIA roles
- Acronyms, emojis, and symbols are interpreted consistently
- Headings and lists follow a logical reading hierarchy
- Dynamic content updates are announced appropriately
5. Language Detection & Multilingual Support
ReelCiety’s systems attempt to detect content language to ensure correct pronunciation and voice selection. Users may also:
- Manually set preferred reading languages
- Switch voices and speech rates via device settings
- Enable or disable automatic language detection
6. Assistive Technology Compatibility
ReelCiety is designed to interoperate with a wide range of assistive technologies:
- Screen readers and braille displays
- Voice control and dictation software
- Switch devices and alternative input tools
- Cognitive assistance and reading support tools
7. Speech-to-Text & Voice Input
Where supported, users may interact with ReelCiety using voice input. This includes:
- Dictating captions, comments, and messages
- Voice-based navigation commands (device-dependent)
- Hands-free interaction for accessibility and convenience
8. Creator Responsibilities
Creators are encouraged to optimize content for assistive technologies by:
- Using clear, descriptive language in captions
- Avoiding excessive emoji-only or symbol-only text
- Providing context for visual-only information
- Adding alt-text and audio descriptions where appropriate
9. Advertising & Branded Content
Advertisers and brands must ensure that sponsored content:
- Is readable by TTS and assistive tools
- Does not rely solely on visual cues for key information
- Includes accessible disclosures and calls to action
10. Limitations & Accuracy Considerations
Users should be aware that:
- TTS pronunciation may vary depending on device and language models
- Slang, names, and creative spelling may be mispronounced
- Live content may not be immediately accessible via TTS
11. Safety & Abuse Prevention
Assistive technologies must not be exploited to bypass moderation, spam protections, or safety systems. Abuse of accessibility features may result in enforcement action.
12. Testing & Quality Assurance
ReelCiety conducts ongoing testing with:
- Automated accessibility testing tools
- Manual audits using assistive technologies
- User feedback from accessibility communities
13. Regulatory Compliance
These guidelines align with WCAG 2.1 AA standards, disability access laws, and applicable digital accessibility regulations in supported regions.
14. Continuous Improvement
Nexa-Group invests in improving TTS accuracy, assistive compatibility, and inclusive design as technologies evolve.
