Age Verification Policy

This Age Verification Policy explains how Vexor, operated by Nexa Group, protects minors, verifies user age, and enforces age-based restrictions in compliance with global safety regulations, including COPPA, GDPR, the UK Age-Appropriate Design Code, and platform requirements from Apple and Google.

1. Purpose & Scope

The primary goal of this policy is to ensure that children and young users are appropriately protected on Vexor and that age-sensitive features (such as messaging, monetization, and targeted advertising) are only made available to users who meet applicable legal age thresholds. This policy applies to:

  • All Vexor users, globally.
  • All versions of the Vexor app (iOS, Android, web, and related services).
  • All age-dependent features, including messaging, live streaming, monetization, and ads.

Age verification is a core part of Vexor’s overall Safety & Enforcement framework and is closely integrated with our Parental Guidance, Crisis Safety & Self-Harm Prevention, and Data Protection policies.

2. Minimum Age Requirements

To comply with international child-safety and data protection laws, Vexor enforces age thresholds that may vary by region. The general global baseline is:

  • 13+ years — Minimum age to create a standard Vexor account.
  • 16+ years — Required for certain higher-risk features such as:
    • Direct messaging in most regions.
    • Hosting live streams (where available).
    • Access to personalized advertising (subject to regional law).
    • In-app purchases and payment-related features, where local law requires.
  • 18+ years — Required for:
    • Participation in creator monetization programs.
    • Receiving payouts or earning revenue from Vexor.
    • Entering into commercial agreements or brand deals via the platform.

In some jurisdictions, stricter age thresholds may apply. Where local law sets a higher minimum age, Vexor will follow the stricter standard.

3. Age Verification Methods

Vexor uses a layered approach to age verification, combining self-declared data, technical signals, and structured verification for higher-risk scenarios:

  • Birthdate Declaration at Sign-Up: All new users must provide their date of birth. This is used to assign age-based protections and feature access.
  • Platform-Level Age Classification: Where supported, Vexor may rely on age classifications provided by Apple, Google, or other distribution platforms for additional safeguards.
  • Behavioral & Content Signals: In some cases, anomalies in user behavior or content (e.g., obvious mismatch between declared age and visible activity) may trigger an additional age review.
  • Government ID / KYC Verification: For monetization, payouts, or flagged accounts, Vexor may request:
    • Government-issued identification.
    • Identity verification through a regulated third-party provider.
    • Additional documentation where the risk profile or regulations require it.
  • Parental or Guardian Confirmation: In certain regions and circumstances, Vexor may require or support parental confirmation for continued use of a minor’s account or for access to specific features.

If Vexor detects a high likelihood that a user is below the allowed age, the account may be temporarily restricted pending verification.

4. Age-Based Feature Restrictions

Vexor applies differentiated protections and feature sets based on user age:

4.1 Users Under 16
  • Accounts are private by default.
  • Direct messaging is disabled or heavily restricted.
  • Hosting public live streams is typically not allowed.
  • In-app purchases may be disabled or limited by region.
  • No personalized or interest-based advertising targeted at these users.
  • Limited discoverability in “For You” and public recommendation surfaces.
  • Stricter AI moderation thresholds to filter potentially harmful or unsuitable content.
4.2 Users Aged 16–17
  • Messaging may be allowed but restricted to approved or mutual contacts.
  • Limited access to live features and collaboration tools.
  • Restricted exposure to sensitive content categories.
  • Limited monetization options, subject to parental or legal requirements.
  • Advertising restrictions consistent with youth protection regulations.
4.3 Users 18 and Older
  • Full access to core features, including messaging, collaboration, and live tools (subject to separate safety policies).
  • Eligibility for creator monetization, payouts, and advanced analytics.
  • Access to brand collaboration tools and promotional placements (where available).

5. Parental Controls & Family Supervision

Vexor provides tools to help parents and guardians supervise minors’ use of the platform:

  • Family Pairing (where implemented): Linking a guardian account to a minor’s account to view and manage key settings.
  • Screen Time Limits: Optional controls to limit daily usage.
  • Restricted Mode: Filters content that may be unsuitable for young users.
  • Interaction Controls: Settings to limit who can comment, duet, stitch, or message the minor’s account.
  • Account Review & Deletion Requests: Parents or legal guardians may request review or deletion of a minor’s account and data, subject to verification.

Parents can contact Vexor’s Privacy Office at privacy@vexor.to for assistance with child accounts or data rights.

6. Handling Underage Accounts

If Vexor reasonably believes that a user is below the permitted age for the service or a specific feature, we may:

  • Immediately restrict or disable the account.
  • Request proof of age (e.g., ID verification via a secure provider).
  • Notify the user (and, where appropriate, a parent or guardian) that age verification is required.
  • Delete the account and associated data if verification is not completed or if we confirm that the user is underage.

Users who repeatedly provide false age information or attempt to bypass safeguards may face permanent bans and additional security measures.

7. Reporting Suspected Underage Users

Any user, parent, or trusted organization can report a suspected underage account. Reports are:

  • Handled confidentially and with care.
  • Reviewed by dedicated safety and trust teams.
  • Assessed in combination with technical evidence and behavioral signals.

To report a suspected underage user, contact:
Email: safety@vexor.to

8. Data Protection, Privacy & Age-Appropriate Design

Vexor’s age verification practices are aligned with applicable privacy and youth protection laws, including:

  • GDPR and GDPR-K provisions for children’s data.
  • COPPA (in relevant jurisdictions).
  • UK Age-Appropriate Design Code and similar frameworks.

Key principles include:

  • Data Minimization: Collecting only what is strictly necessary for verification and safety.
  • Security: Protecting identity documents and age verification data with strong encryption and limited access.
  • Retention Limits: Storing age verification data only as long as needed for compliance, security, and audit requirements.

9. Integration with Other Safety Policies

Age verification and age-based controls are tightly integrated with:

  • Community Guidelines (e.g., stricter rules for content featuring minors).
  • Parental Guidance Policy (family education and tools).
  • Crisis Safety & Self-Harm Prevention Policy (support for at-risk youth).
  • Data Retention & Deletion Policy (when accounts are disabled or deleted).

10. Regulatory Changes & Future Enhancements

As legal frameworks evolve, especially in the EU, UK, and other regions with age-specific online safety rules, Vexor may:

  • Introduce stronger identity and age verification processes.
  • Refine age thresholds for certain features or content types.
  • Expand guardian tools and safety dashboards.

Significant changes will be reflected in this policy and communicated through our Legal or Safety centers.
